Prof. Sihyun Ham of Sookmyung Women's University has been named as the scientist of the month, the Ministry of Science, ITC and Future Planning said on April 6, 2016. 

Professor Ham received the honor for leading the research on developing a method analyzing the mechanism of protein aggregation that can lead to Alzheimer's disease, diabetes or cancer.

The monthly scientific award was first established in 1997 to promote the work of both scientists and engineers and raise public awareness of their work in science and technology. The award comes with a cash prize.
