A number of researches have been performing possibility verification of blood-based AD diagnosis. Amyloid-β (Aβ) protein is a strong candidate biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). For discrimination between patient and normal control samples, a new sensor system that has high sensitivity for detecting the Aβ protein level in blood is required. Here, we developed an interdigitated microelectrode (IME) sensor system for blood-based diagnosis of AD. The results for detection of the Aβ protein levels in transgenic and wild-type mouse plasma samples confirmed the possibility of discrimination between patients and normal controls with this method. Moreover, we tried the quantitative Aβ detection in human plasma using plasma sample of AD patient and normal people verified by neuroimaging analysis. The results show our micro/nano-biosensors can be usefully utilized for AD early diagnosis.
