Abstract
We could observe the single nanoparticle (NP) collision on ultramicroelectrode (UME) by electrocatalytic amplification (EA) method. The EA method is based on the amplified current when NPs in solution collide with an inert (or less active electrochemically) UME. Two typical types of current responses, a current staircase or blip (or spike), in single NP collision experiments were observed. The current response was investigated at the various electrode material and surface state of the measuring electrode for better understanding of single NP collision mechanism and NP’s electrocatalytic reaction. The height and frequency of the peak current are also analyzed to the applied potential and the particle concentration.
